7. Christian Over Alberto Del Rio Ladder match for World Heavyweight Title at Extreme Rules 5/1/11
This match came about just a few weeks after Christian’s best friend Edge was forced to retire due to a neck injury. The bout remains one of the more underrated bouts in both the careers of Christian and Del Rio, who gave the fans in Tampa a lot to cheer about during the 21:05 it was given.
Edge did help out his buddy in Christian, but at the end of the day, it may have been the best WWE match in the career of one half of the dominant former tag team champs. Christian never really got a chance to shine as a singles star, but this was his night, as he became the
eleventh Grand Slam Champion in WWE history. It was also a nice moment to see Edge and Christian celebrate the win after the bout.
