Are the Cleveland Browns Progressing or Regressing?

What I can say is it seems like while this regime has made some steps forward they have taken the same amount back. The plan seems to be in place of sticking with the rebuild as tough as it seems and doing it the correct way through picks and going young.

However the execution of the draft picks they have selected and the way they have handled some situations and contract discrepancies are causes for concern. With the team as bad as they have been and organization problems, they have to overpay to get players to sign here and deal with the turmoil. Disputing over little amounts of money is going to be red flags and feuding with the coaches does not help.

The coaching situation is not helping either. Hue Jackson has now already turned away from Kizer to undrafted QB Kevin Hogan as a starter.

Why?

The answer is simple. It is because he knows he is getting fire if the team does not win and Hogan gives him a better chance to win right now. So instead of seeing what Kizer can do and evaluating him for next year, you now have a coach putting in other guys to try and keep his head above water.

It is one gigantic mess for everyone involved. It is going to be hard for Hue to stick around with the record he has after the season if it does not change quick. I thought the Jets would be the worst team in the NFL this year and they are currently tied for first place in the AFC East.

That leaves no excuse for Hue to not have some wins under his belt this season already. Some of his choices in games and the execution of things are also fair to be criticized.

With that looking like a certainty does that mean the front office goes too? I hope not to an extent. Listen the front office is doing the rebuild and going full in.

There are the positives of getting a lot of these assets we will need to make the leap at once when we can get talent in here and that add a bunch on top. The problem is we are still far away from that. Yes the statistics background has been nice for trades and rebuilding but what they need to add to the mix is a football guy to evaluate talent.

They need someone to step in and say we need to sign Pryor and not Britt. They need to draft a Hooker over Peppers. The replacements for free agents such as Poyer, Erving, and Pasztor are already gone one year later.
