Fenway Flop: Indians Lose 9th Inning Walk-Off to Red Sox 12-10; Three Takeaways From the Loss

1. A Pen That’s Burned Out

The Indians bullpen really needs a break, and Tuesday against the Red Sox the unit was again pushed to the limit with Carlos Carrasco only going 1.2 innings, allowing five runs on six hits.

Six different Indians relief pitchers threw Tuesday, and even the usually very good Andrew Miller was a run, a walk and a strikeout in just 0.2 innings.

Bryan Shaw, who gave up the game-winning two-run homer on Sunday, allowed three runs on three hits in just 0.1 innings, throwing just 12 pitches.

Cody Allen ended the bad night for the pen, which in total gave up seven runs on nine hits with one walk and six K’s.

The pen as a whole has been getting used too much on a nightly basis as of late, and now for the finale of the three-game set they have to hope that Trevor Bauer gives them some much needed innings as they look to win the last game of the set.
