Bradley Zimmer undergoing surgery Tuesday

The Cleveland Indians announced that Bradley Zimmer will undergo surgery on Tuesday morning at the New York Hand and Wrist Center of Lenox Hill in Manhattan.

Zimmer exited Sunday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles during the seventh inning after attempting to slide head first into first base. Orioles first baseman Chris Davis stepped on Zimmer’s left hand while trying to make the tag.

There is no timetable for his return yet, but the rookie outfielder has posted a .241 batting average with eight homers and 39 RBIs.
