75 Tips to Help You Win Your Fantasy Football League in 2016

53.) Blowout Games Can Be Bad

Blowout games can also be really bad for your team depending on how you look at. For those eager to start Tom Brady week five when they play the pungent Cleveland Browns, think long and hard. If Brady leads the team to a four TD first half and up 28-0 in the 3rd, some of the starters might be pulled. In blowout games, starters tend to be removed to avoid injury in a game where the outcome is already determined. In those games you are only getting maybe three quarters of action from your starter instead of four. The winning team may run the ball more too hurting QB’s, WR’s, and TE’s in a blowout game. So while it sounds good to blowout the other team on paper, your fantasy score might not reflect the same outcome. On the opposite end garbage time has a factor too. Blake Bortles had a big year last year because the Jaguars defense was so bad, the offense always played from behind. Trying to cover a large deficit weekly, the Jaguars threw the ball a lot more than usual and when teams started putting in backups or letting up a little, Bortles benefited. With an improved defense it will be interesting to see if his numbers drop a little this year from not always playing catchup. Sometimes teams that get down big early can’t put any points up despite throwing a lot of passes. Blowouts are just a completely different entity than a regular game.

54.) Weekly Rankings Can Be A Huge Help

Many fantasy experts also tend to give out their rankings for players at each position for that week. The lower the number, the more likely they would start that player for that week. Once again it is just another opinion on who to start for those 50/50 decisions. Looking around and getting a consensus may sway you one way or your gut can tell you who to choose as well. Rankings can also show if a player on waivers might be doing better than someone on your team. The rankings change all the time and there is no right and wrong to it but it is for sure a big help when making decisions.

55.) Stay Up To Date Sunday Mornings

The majority of games are played on Sunday afternoon. Players may be a game time decision with an injury or late scratches might happen for whatever reason. Make sure to pay close attention on Sundays because that is when the most reliable information is put out there. In case you need the kind of injury defined, probable means usually a >80% chance they play, questionable means somewhere between 25-75% and doubtful means <20% on average. Also by hearing how they look and how limited they might be from reporters should be taken into account. If they are probable but only going to play half their normal snaps, I’m looking at another player if I have a good choice available. Sunday mornings and staying up to date are critical to putting out the best lineup. You may be put in the awkward situation of a game time decision in a four o’clock game. Unless you have somebody else that plays the same time or later that you would start you can ponder over it. If you do not, don’t risk starting someone who will get zero points.
