75 Tips to Help You Win Your Fantasy Football League in 2016

Tom-Brady

36.) Take Into Account Surrounding Talent

Having good talent around increases how well a player can play. Giving Tom Brady a ton of options to throw the ball to means I like him a lot. Picking from his WR’s becomes more difficult since it could go a lot of different ways besides Gronk standing above. For someone not as fortunate like Jared Goff who has Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt as his top receiving targets, he is more likely to struggle. Offensive lines finally play an important role here as a bad line can kill your QB such as Andrew Luck last year. He went from being a top two QB preseason to finishing 28th.

37.) Wait A Little On Your Personal Sleepers

Tyler Eifert was my perfect example last year. After not being healthy for a couple of years I felt he was ready to breakout. I had him as my seventh best TE going into the season last year while most draft boards had him around 15. Based on players going off those rankings and ADP, I was able to sit back a little bit more on him. I saw TE’s I had ranked much lower go off the board while still having the player I want sitting atop of mine. That bought me a couple of rounds that I was able to get another player I liked at other positions before going back in and drafting Eifert. While you never want to wait too long and lose out on getting your sleeper, if the rankings for your app have him a lot lower than you do, consider waiting one round and improving elsewhere versus getting your guy earlier than most people would expect. That should help your team improve slightly.

38.) Special Teamers Have Increased Value

With the new rule changes for player safety, the impact of kickoffs and punt returns have declined, but in fantasy it still offers up some value. Leagues reward individual players with special teams TD’s so finding a player that fields punts or kickoffs gives you another opportunity to add points. Cordarrelle Patterson had two kickoff return TD’s and Darren Sproles had two punt return TD’s to lead the league in those categories. That’s an extra twelve points for those players not involving a run or catch. By having their defense/special teams it adds an additional six points for each touchdown. Some top individual players involved with special teams include Antonio Brown, David Johnson, Tyler Lockett, and Tavon Austin. If they break one, you reap the reward.
