NEO Sports Insiders Week 10 NFL Power Rankings

25. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (30) 3-5

Blaine Gabbert rewarded his coach’s decision to go with him as the starter with a W against the Falcons, who were the favorite over the lowly 49ers. Gabbert is again named the starter for Week 11 as the Niners have a bye week to prepare for the Seattle Seahawks.

26. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (24) 2-7

Philip Rivers has to be the most un-luckiest quarterback of 2015. While ‘un-luckiest’ may not be a real world, the reality is that the Chargers are in deep trouble. Melvin Gordon, San Diego’s first round selection this past NFL draft, has yet to score his first NFL rushing touchdown and has been a sidekick to the small but mighty Danny Woodhead.

27. CLEVELAND BROWNS (26) 2-7

Here lie the Cleveland Browns: Beloved Franchise, host of many terrible regimes and quarterbacks alike. While the first half against the Bengals showed some promise, the game ultimately ended in losing fashion for the Browns. Johnny Manziel’s second start of the season was a bit underwhelming but for once the young man did not turn the ball over – unless you would like to factor in every three-and-out in the second half. Head coach Mike Pettine stated on Tuesday morning that if Josh McCown will start against the Steelers if he is indeed healthy.

My main problem with starting McCown, at this point, is the simple fact it’s slim to none on the chances the Browns are contending for a playoff spot, and slim left town. If McCown is still the starter, regardless of record or health, after the Browns’ bye week in Week 11 of the season, then the front office is even more incompetent than reported. Robert Turbin, who was added after the trade to send Terrance West to Tennessee was executed, has been released and it appears Duke Johnson Jr. should be spearheading the backfield but Isaiah Crowell will probably continue to fail to gain more than three yards per carry and hold on to the starter title.
