Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

NCAAF:

Ohio State vs. Illinois
Ohio State -16

Once again Ohio State needs a good win to start impressing the committee before they keep getting passed up. JT Barrett will be coming back which should do wonders for the offense. However I feel the Ohio State defense is going to step up and be the difference maker in this one.

Alabama vs. Mississippi State
Alabama -8

Alabama might be the best team in the country after their performance against a very good LSU team last week. Dak Prescott is a SEC veteran QB that could pull the upset at home but I just don’t see it happening. Alabama is just too good right now.

Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State
Oklahoma State -14

Oklahoma State just beat a substantially better TCU team by more than this last week. Iowa State has had a rough schedule but they haven’t come close to beating all the other talented teams in the Big 12. The Cowboys should be out for blood trying to sneak into the playoffs.

Georgia Southern vs. Troy
Georgia Southern -6

Georgia Southern is among the top teams in the Sun Belt. They also average the most rushing yards per game in the NCAA. Troy is ranked 94th against the run.

Temple vs. USF
Temple -3

I still think Temple is among the most underrated teams in the country. Their only loss was by four points to the current fourth ranked Notre Dame. USF is a good team but they are nothing special.

Memphis vs. Houston
Memphis +7

Memphis beat an Ole Miss team that beat Alabama which might be the best team in the country. This is a game I would love to watch between two great non-power five schools. Houston has played phenomenal on the year and recently beat Vandy 34-0 who almost took down Florida. Paxton Lynch for Memphis is seeing his draft stock rise quite a bit. In this game I like the best QB and Lynch to get it done.

Oklahoma vs. Baylor
Oklahoma +2.5

Baylor’s new QB is a freshman. He gets a daunting task in having to beat Oklahoma to try and move Baylor into the playoffs. The Oklahoma offense has been on a tear since the Texas lost so trying to outscore them is not easy. I believe the Sooners win.
