Billy Corgan to Purchase the National Wrestling Alliance

Smashing Pumpkins frontman and former Impact Wrestling President Billy Corgan has agreed in principle to purchase the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), according to PWInsider.

The finalized deal would see Corgan become the owner of the NWA name, rights, trademarks and the storied heavyweight championship belt.

Once WWE’s biggest competitor in the 1980’s, the NWA’s influence fell apart, when Vince McMahon took WWE national.

Some of the professional wrestlers who have held the prestigious NWA Heavyweight Champion include names like Harley Race, Terry Funk, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Kerry Von Erich, Sting, Barry Windham, and many more.
