Baron Cup III – NDCL Advances to Sunday’s Title Game with 8-2 Win Over Parma

BROOKLYN, OHIO – The opener of Saturday’s four Baron Cup games in Brooklyn had plenty of offense, as the NDCL Lions advanced to Sunday’s championship game in Baron Cup III with a 8-2 win over the Parma Redmen.

There was a measure of revenge on the minds of the Lions, who were 0-2 this season against the Redmen, losing earlier in the season by scores of 3-2 and 6-5.

Joe Iademarco scored five goals and two assists in the runaway win for NDCL, Grey Wilson added two goals and two assists for the Lions, who will play in the Baron Cup III Championship Game on Sunday at 1pm.

The Redmen trailed 6-0 before they leading scorer, Joe Gallo, was able to get Parma on the board with 6.7 seconds left in the second period, but by then the game was well in hand for the Lions.

The Lions and Redmen were in a stalemate when NDCL struck first 5:14 into the first period. The goal slid past the pads of Parma goalie Ryan Pinson off the stick of Iademarco with the assist going to Wilson.

NDCL gained a 2-0 advantage about seven minutes later, as Wilson went top shelf past Pinson at the 12:13 mark of the first. The assist went to CJ Natale and Iademarco.

90 second later the Lions onslaught continued, as Iademarco scored again, his second goal of the day, and the Redmen found themselves trailing 3-0 with 1:11 left in the first.

imageThe Lions outshot Parma 14-9 in the opening 15 minutes.

The second period was much of the same, as the Lions scored three more times. Iademarco put in two more goals four minutes apart as the Lions made it a 5-0 game.

The Redmen down 6-1 after two scored the opener of the final 15 minutes, as they closed it to 6-2, but that was as close as things would get as the period got chippy with a number of scuffles and penalties for each side.

NDCL will look for the Baron Cup III title Sunday against the winner of Saturday’s game two between #7 Aurora and #6 Bay.
