FAN POLL: What Show Should The WWE Network Bring Back?

Shotgun Saturday Night

The show aired from January of 1997 – August of 1999. In the beginning it aired on late Saturday nights from various New York City nightlife locations. It was known for it’s adult themes and was a precursor the to the Attitude Era.  In fact, the “WWF” wasted no time in pushing the sex buttons as one of the most memorable moments of the debut episode occurred when Marlena climbed on the ring apron during a match between Goldust and The Sultan, and removed her top, causing the Sultan to be distracted and lose the match.

Because of it being on so late on Saturday Nights, they were able to get away with a lot more. Later episodes of Shotgun Saturday Night were broadcast from the All-Star Cafe in Times Square, the Mirage Nightclub on Long Island, and New York Penn Station.  Sadly, because of production costs the show only last six weeks before they had to can the “live” atmosphere and start taping episodes before RAW, and eventually making it solely a clip show.

My proposal to bring it back:

I would be all for bringing back this show, and using strictly the female wrestlers of NXT and both RAW and Smackdown. Make it spicy and rated R if need be.  Make it about sex and skin.  The WWE has already shown they can get away with this by having both CAMP WWE and Storytime on the network.  Two very raunchy shows.  This is a show where you can use women like Lana, Summer Rae, Dana Brooke, Eva Marie, Maryse and some of the others on the roster that have little to no in ring talent, but are great on the microphone and easy on the eyes.  Air it late on Saturdays, 10 or 11pm and you will get a large amount of single men watching, heck, even married men.  Sex sells, bottom line.

I think I would have to vote for Sunday nights main event! Great concept and I think it would be great to have especially for those who don’t get ppv and other shows.

Bring back Saturday Night’s Main Event. Make it meaningful. Number one contenders matches, Championship matches, and debut matches for up and comers would make this worth watching. The one stipulation that should be in place though, in order to make this show a draw, would be to disclose the fact that there are no DQ’s and their is a clear cut winner and a loser. The broadcast should also be on NBC like in year’s past, at 8pm, so the family can watch.
