Tribe Snaps Skid with 5-3 Win Over Giants; 3 Takeaways

The Cleveland Indians picked up a much-needed 5-3 win on the road against the San Francisco Giants, snapping a four-game losing streak.

Here are three takeaways from the win.

1. Josh Tomlin Cruises

The right hander was efficient as ever, working 7.1 innings, only needing to throw 79 pitches.

He allowed three earned runs on six hits, did not issue a walk and had some great defense behind him, especially from third baseman Giovanny Urshela, who was recently called up to fill Jason Kipnis’ roster spot while the second baseman is on the Disabled List.

On the contrary, Cleveland’s offense made Giants starting pitcher Matt Moore work, as the left hander threw 106 pitches in seven innings. After leading 3-1 through four innings, San Francisco made two errors in the fifth and sixth, giving Cleveland opportunities to take advantage. Those two errors led to two runs, which turned out to be the difference in the game.
