The NEOSI Staff Answers Five Questions About Super Bowl 50

2. What is the key to a SB50 win for the Denver Broncos?

Paul Williams: Limiting turnovers. The Broncos have been one of the best teams in the turnover margin all year and winning the turnover battle in this game is a must. Only four teams have lost the turnover battle and won the Super Bowl and with the Broncos limitations on offense, they need all the possessions they can get.

Brandon Urasek: The key is to win the first half and finish drives. When you play Carolina you better get ready for a shootout. In their two post-season games they outscored their opponents 55-7 in the first half and that was against top defenses Arizona and Seattle. Denver cannot afford to fall behind early and play catch up. They need to also keep the ball away from Cam and not only sustain drives, but finish them. Carolina can put up points quick so settling for FGs is no good.

Matt Medley: Defense needs to force multiple turnovers and capitalize on short field opportunities. Manning has to make good decisions and Denver must win the turnover battle to win the game.

Mike Perry: For the Broncos to win they must contain Cam Newton and not allow the Panthers to get off to a quick start. The longer the Broncos stick around the more they will start to believe they can win the game.

Adrienne Goehler: For as good as the Broncos D is they’ll need to find a way to contain the Panthers O to have their fair shot. If Super Cam shows up their in trouble. If they can force some early 3 and outs, get their confidence, and give Manning a shot, we’ll have a game. The Broncos will also need to incorporate the run game to make up for what Manning may lack now at this stage in his career.
