NEOSI Top 10 NBA Power Rankings for November 2nd

San Antonio Spurs v Boston Celtics

3. Cleveland Cavaliers (2-1)
Last Week: 3

The slow start the Cavs were expected to have looks like it only lasted one game so far. After a close loss to Chicago, the Cavs rolled through Memphis and were in control all game long against Miami.

The most encouraging sign of the first three games is that Kevin Love appears to fit in better now than at any point last season. Until Kyrie Irving returns, Love will get plenty of touches and so far he is making the most of it.

Another encouraging sign is the Cavs’ bench has played outstanding, scoring 50 on the road at Memphis, and should only get deeper and better when Irving and Iman Shumpert are back.

This will be said all season long, but barring injuries, the Cavs are the beast of the East.

4. San Antonio Spurs (2-1)
Last Week: 2

It may take the Spurs some time to adjust with new addition LaMarcus Aldridge, who wasn’t spectacular offensively the first two games, but put up 24 points and 14 rebounds in game three, similar to his days in Portland.

The Spurs’ style we all have come accustomed to usually starts out a little slow, but blooms as the season goes on and by the time the playoffs start, they’re ready to go.

This year could be no different as the chemistry should come with time and as long as San Antonio hangs around in the talented Western Conference playoff picture, they’ll be one of the frontrunners in the conference.

5. Los Angeles Clippers (3-0)
Last Week: 5

Blake Griffin has been on a tear to start the season, averaging 32 points and 9 rebounds per game. Griffin and Center DeAndre Jordan are one of the best frontcourt duos in the league.

The Clippers are deeper than a year ago with Lance Stephenson, Paul Pierce, and Josh Smith to provide some flexibility with the types of lineups Doc Rivers throws out there, and with Chris Paul as the leader they are one of the teams to watch in the Western Conference.
