Kluber Notches 18th Win as Indians Top Royals 3-1 to Wrap Up Homestand; Three Takeaways

2. Hand it to the Indians Pitchers

Tribe pitchers stayed aggressive attacking all day, and by the time it was said and done the Indians hurlers struck out 16 Royals batters.

Kluber recorded 10 K’s, with Oliver Perez striking out one, Cody Allen in one impressive 1-2-3 inning striking out two, and then Brad Hand came in and got his 8th save as a member of the Indians, striking out the side in the 9th.

Maybe it was the heat or the fact it was a getaway day, but no matter the case, the Indians were just a few steps ahead all day of Royals batters, and Kansas City just wasn’t able to catch up to them resulting in the huge number of K’s for Indians pitchers.
