Indians tie longest winning streak of the year with ninth straight win; three takeaways

3. The bottom of the order

The Indians bats have been coming to life pretty consistently throughout their nine-game win streak. In fact, during this streak, the Indians have outscored opponents 63-15.

On Friday night, though, the bottom of the order really got the best of Detroit. The trio of Perez, Giovanny Urshela and Erik Gonzalez went 7-of-15 from the plate (or a .467 average), and drove in six runs.

Three of those runs came from Perez on his home run, and his two-run RBI single in the fourth inning.

This Indians team has really been clicking from the mound and at the plate during the last couple of weeks, and is starting to show exactly what they are capable of as we get closer to the post-season. They are now tied with their longest winning streak this year, and it’s clear to even casual observers how much fun they are having.

If they can continue to add consistent offense, don’t be surprised if they overtake the Houston Astros for the top spot in the American League before the month is over.
