OFF THE TURNBUCKLE: Positive Takes From WWE Brand Split

lukeharpercrazy

UNDRAFTED: While the WWE made a big deal about Heath Slater not getting drafted, there were several other big names who went unselected that could make things interesting when they return.

For instance, Triple H – who was the WWE World Champ heading into WrestleMania – wasn’t even picked by his wife for Raw. HHH hasn’t been on TV since losing to Reigns in the WrestleMania main event, other than on NXT, and there seem to be no plans for him to return anytime soon.

The Undertaker was also not selected, which was a bit of a surprise. While Taker’s status is seemingly up in the air – rumors were that his match with Shane McMahon at WrestleMania was to be his last – he’s still out there, ominously lurking in the shadows.

The Rock, who is more of a Hollywood star than a wrestler but still competes now and then, was also not picked. If you’re wondering why that’s a big deal, keep in mind that Brock Lesnar is still a part-time competitor and he was picked 8th by Raw.

Injured wrestlers like Nikki Bella, Luke Harper, Emma and Tamina Snuka are all technically free agents, along with Ryback (still under contract but currently sitting out) and Paul Heyman, who didn’t get taken along side of his client Lesnar.

As far as Slater goes, they are going to use his free agency as a storyline. He already showed up on Smackdown proclaiming himself to be the hottest free agent in wrestling only to get squashed by Rhyno. Hopefully, it turns into some type of push for the guy.
