Mat Insiders: My 10 Personal Favorite WrestleMania Matches of All-Time

1. Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant – WrestleMania III

If you’re not at least mid to late 30’s, you have no idea the impact this match had on the sport of pro wrestling at the time it took place. As a young teen at the time, this match WAS wrestling, and their 1987 battle to end WrestleMania III seemed at the time like a match that defined the sport. Andre was well past his prime, but it was still an amazing thought that he could not only lose, but that he could be picked up and slammed by anyone. Hogan, who was at his peak, did both, and the lead up to this encounter was what made it even more so special. The Andre heel turn, the massive crowd, and the way that Andre dominated most of the 12 minute match made the ending even more special. Sure the two would go at it again and again the next 2-3 years, but this match still to me is the biggest and best that Mania ever had to offer and made the sport what it is today.
