Kurt Angle To Return To Action At TLC In Place Of Roman Reigns; AJ Styles To Fill In For Bray Wyatt Against Finn Balor

The WWE has their annual TLC event this Sunday and it comes at a point in time where a lot of the roster is coming down with illnesses or just taking a leave of absence from the company. The RAW-branded pay-per-view has had to pull out some surprises for better or for worse, including reuniting The Shield, introducing “Sister Abigail” or hyping up the huge debut of Asuka for a smaller event.

All of that news is exciting, but none of those stories even come remotely close to the bombshell the WWE dropped today via social media.

That’s right, Kurt Angle will step out from his managerial role for one night and join forces with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to take on the team of The Miz, Sheamus & Cesaro, Braun Strowman, and Kane. The original match was to feature The Shield against the team of monsters, but Reigns has reportedly come down with an illness that will keep him out of action ffor some time. It’s weird to use Angle in a match that had nothing to really do with him for his in-ring return, but the WWE is obviously trying to generate some buzz in one of their down months. Fans won’t be too bothered by the lack of storyline, as it’s been a dream of everyone’s to see Angle get back into the squared circle. That happens Sunday.

Regarding the illness of Bray Wyatt, “The Eater of Worlds’ must miss out on his match with Finn Balor in what was potentially the final match of their feud. Wyatt was supposed to debut the look of “Sister Abigail” against “The Demon” persona of Balor. Instead, fans are now treated to a match between Balor and Smackdown Live’s own A.J. Styles. Styles and Balor have some history, as both were the leader of The Bullet Club at different points in time. This will be the first battle between the two, as they never crossed paths in New Japan Pro Wrestling due to balor departing for the WWE as Styles was heading into NJPW.
