Indians look for fifth straight win as they look to sweep the Detroit Tigers

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Indians have been on quite the dominant run since 2016 against the Detroit Tigers.

In fact, they are 51-17 since 2016. It used to be if you want win to the division you have to go through Detroit.

Once upon a time the Detroit Tigers would come to Cleveland and flat out blast the Indians out of their own stadium.

How the tables have turned since 2016. The year the Indians returned to the World Series.

The Indians are looking to sweep the Detroit Tigers tonight. This would be the third time the Indians have accomplished that against the Detroit Tigers.

The Indians come into tonight’s game with a record of 54-40 on the season. They sit only four games behind the first place Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.

The Tigers season went south fast and it hasn’t stopped. They come into tonight’s game with a record of 29-62 on the season. They are 2-8 in their last 10 games.

On the mound for the Indians is right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer.

Bauer is 8-7 on the season with an 3.65 ERA. Bauer has struggled with is command throughout the season and locating his pitches.

But in his last 7 starts, he is 4-1 with an 3.11 ERA. In Bauer’s last start, he received a loss against the Twins.

He went 6 innings, 6 hits, 3 runs, 3 earned, 3 home runs, 3 walks, 11 strikeouts.

On the mound for the Tigers is left-handed pitcher Matthew Boyd.

Boyd is 6-7 on the season with an 3.95 ERA. Boyd took a loss against the Kansas City Royals his last start.

He went 7 innings, 6 hits, 4 runs, 4 earned, 4 walks, 10 strikeouts.
