This one is going to be all Utah State and I’m really confident about it. The Zips best win came against 5-6 Buffalo and among their five losses, the most points they scored in any of those games was 12. Utah State’s record might not look great, but they played in the tough Mountain West and get QB Chuckie Keeton back. Plus it’s close to home for them. I feel bad for Akron because it’s a long trip for a hard loss.

Here’s a great battle among two of the top group of five schools. Both of these teams have been ranked in the top 25 throughout the season. Toledo pulled one of the biggest upsets of the year week two, going to Arkansas and upsetting the number 18 Razorbacks 16-12. This is the first game for new Coach Candle and will look on the veteran defensive front and strong running game from Terry Swanson and Kareem Hunt to take them to victory. The Owls looked to be prime contenders until their close loss to Notre Dame. The biggest win for them was over Paxton Lynch and Memphis. The Owls are led by Senior LB Tyler Matakevich. He won the Bednarik Award for defensive player of the year and has 100+ tackles every season for four seasons. This should be a good low scoring game with two teams that could have taken down some power five schools.

Northern Illinois may have to start their third string QB again for this game who threw three picks in a 34-14 loss in the MAC Championship game. Both of these teams rank in the top five in interceptions on defense this year. Shawun Lurry, the sophomore CB for the Huskies leads the NCAA with nine picks. To try and avoid the interceptions, Northern Illinois may try to rely on the run game to get by if they can. Unfortunately, Boise State has the 13th best run defense in the country. Boise State should win this one pretty easy.
