Five Cavaliers First-Round Draft Picks You Probably Don’t Remember

Luke Jackson

One year after selecting LeBron James first overall, the Cavs followed that up by selecting Oregon’s Luke Jackson tenth overall in the 2004 NBA Draft. Jackson’s collegiate career was highlighted by becoming a Naismith College Player Of The Year and John R. Wooden finalist in his senior season.

Jackson’s career was cut short in Cleveland due to injuries, as he only appeared in 46 games. Jackson was traded after two seasons to the Boston Celtics for Dwayne Jones. Jackson never played for the Celtics after being waived before the 2006-07 season. He finished his career spending time with the Clippers, Raptors, and Heat. Miami actually cut Penny Hardaway to make space for Jackson on their roster. The decorated college star ended up averaging 3.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in just five seasons.

Jackson is now the head coach at Northwest Christian Academy in Eugene, Oregon.
