Cavs second half collapse ends in 110-94 loss to Spurs; three takeaways

3. San Antonio’s 16-0 run

The turning point for the Spurs on Sunday was their 16-0 run that began near the end of the third quarter as they trailed, 74-71.

It wouldn’t end until there was 9:07 remaining in the game, when Kyle Korver nailed a 3. By that point though, the Cavs were trailing by 10, 87-77.

James touched on the damage the momentum swing did to the Cavs in the closing frame.

“I think the momentum kind of hurt us when they got away with an offensive foul pushing it back on me at the end of the third quarter,” he said. “Danny Green hits a 3, I come down and I turn the ball over and (Bryn) Forbes hits a shot to put them up two going into the fourth. That’s a five-point swing from us having a three-point lead, but we were still down two, and we just couldn’t get a bucket to start the fourth. We turned the ball over a couple of times and that’s when the momentum kind of switched.”
