CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second straight week, Cleveland State freshman Tyree Appleby (Jacksonville, Ark./Jacksonville) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for his performance in Cleveland State’s two games last week.

In a pair of games last week, Appleby averaged 18.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals, while shooting .800 (12-15) from the field, including 5-of-6 (.833) from three-point.

He scored a career-high 24 points on Wednesday at Western Michigan, hitting 8-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point. In addition, Appleby added three assists and three steals. In Sunday’s win over Notre Dame College, Appleby made his first career start and posted 10 points (4-5 FG) with four rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocked shots.

Appleby ranks 18th in the Horizon League in scoring (11.7) and assists (2.8) and is fourth in steals (1.9).

The Vikings are out of action this week for final exams and return to the court for three games next week.

CSU will play at Niagara on Dec. 19 and at Cincinnati on Dec. 21. Both games will tip-off at 7:00 pm. The Vikings return home to host Toledo at 2:00 pm on Dec. 23.
