The Browns Have Options at 8 in The NFL Draft – Here’s How They Should Go

Myles Jack LB UCLA

This leaves with me with four options total for the Browns. My ideal choice if the Browns would decide to stay at eight and the names I mentioned before don’t fall would be to take Myles Jack the LB from UCLA.

The key is how his medical is. He is recovering from a torn meniscus but there are people who fear that he will have further problems down the line because of the cartilage problems in his knee. There are reports that he may not make it to a second contract because his knee will not hold up four to five year from now.

If he passes his medical, he can be a game changer on defense. He is so athletically freakish that he can cover almost all the TEs and RBs in the NFL. He’s also strong and fast enough to get into the backfield and disrupt plays.

He played RB, LB, and S in college. He’s a do it all defensive player the Browns have never had. While it’s a gutsy call regarding his long term future, he can give more production than what the team has gotten from its picks the last few years and is a safe bet talent wise. The Browns need talent and he is the third most talented player in this draft behind Laremy Tunsil and Jalen Ramsey.

Vernon Hargeaves makes a lot of sense for the team too. After Truman Williams has struggled to stay with receivers and Justin Gilbert can’t break into the rotation, the Browns need a second corner to pair with Joe Haden. The Gator duo can bait opposing QBs into making bad decisions.

Hargeaves doesn’t have ideal size but he is great at tracking the ball and very fluid with his hips. He has top ten talent and likely would be gone if the Browns were to move down.

The last player for consideration at eight is Ronnie Stanley. While fans would not be excited over another offensive lineman, the team has a big need at RT after Mitchell Schwartz left. Joe Thomas also doesn’t fit in the rebuilding process and if he gets moved soon, the Browns would have their replacement for him as Stanley can shift over from RT to LT. Once again, he wouldn’t be glamorous but he fits a need going forward.

The Browns need to protect their QB and of all the positions in football, the Browns have had the most success in drafting when it comes to offensive lineman.
