Mat Insiders: Ric Flair Turns 67 – Relive Three of His Favorite Moments

2. Co-owning the WWE with Vince McMahon

By far one of the most entertaining storylines in recent memory, Flair really was that limousine ridin’ son of a gun in this feud with Mr. McMahon. The first-ever WWE Draft was monumental, and Flair being a main part of it was crucial to the story’s success. Flair was the perfect babyface to counter Mr. McMahon. In the end, Flair lost his ownership role in WWE, but he will always be remembered in this storyline for driving Mr. McMahon insane.

Firstly, if you haven’t seen this match, go watch it on the WWE Network and you will understand why this match is on here. The build-up to this match was fantastic, as Michaels really made Flair feel like it was time to retire. Comparing Flair to Ol’ Yeller was as low of a blow HBK could have taken, and that really fired Flair up. The match itself was incredible, with the ending of the match really having an emotional feel to what was the end of a storied WWE career. Flair left the ring with thunderous chants of “Thank You Flair!”

For old-school Flair matches, look into his rivalries with Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, and Terry Funk.
