The Cavs Will Be Just Fine – Don’t Worry

The play results in a Kyrie shot, a LeBron shot, or a three point attempt. More often than not in the third quarter for whatever reason, the Cavs love to run a lot of isos without any kind of ball movement.

LeBron or Kyrie tends to hold onto the ball and try and create things for themselves and end up taking a poor shot with a few seconds left on the shot clock or somebody else takes a three pointer.

Three pointers are usually something that most teams won’t live or die by. The Cavaliers average the fifth most three point attempts per game. When it doesn’t seem to be working for them, they continue to chuck it up and hope it falls. Whether it’s due to the fact that they don’t have a true inside scoring threat or not, the Cavs need to work on getting the ball into the paint. Those shots are only worth two points for a reason.

It’s because they are easier to make. When the offense isn’t moving the ball well, get it inside and try and let your bigs turn and take a seven footer or that. It should fare better than LeBron chucking up jumpers all quarter. The team cannot continue to kill themselves right out of the half and allow teams back in it.

The Cavaliers talent is just too good for them to not go far. Yes we get angry or upset when they lose but it’s part of the game. When we watch the losses it’s a time to figure out what’s going wrong and try and fix it. Obviously these are just my observations and those guys are getting paid millions of dollars for a reason. Hopefully the Cavs will focus on taking better shots and improving ball movement. They also need to stay healthy.

Mo Williams is set to visit Dr. Andrews to get his knee looked at. Iman Shumpert is still day-to-day and Matthew Dellavedova had a hamstring injury before the break. With two open roster spots as well, I asked GM David Griffin after the game if he considered using one of the roster spots on a 10-day contract to just add another healthy body to the mix.

He told me that the team does not plan on picking up a 10-day contract unless Shumpert will miss more time with his injury. For now, the Cavs will have to make do with what they have and try to rebound. This is a veteran team that’s been there before.

Don’t panic Cleveland, this team has shown they can beat some of the best in the West and everything now is a tune-up until July.
