Report: Nationals and Indians discussing possible Bryce Harper trade

A day before the MLB Trade Deadline is officially here, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported that the Cleveland Indians and Washington Nationals have been in contact about a possible Bryce Harper trade.

There has been no momentum in this discussion as of Monday evening.

Harper is one of the best outfielders in the game since making his debut at 19 with the Nationals in 2012. Harper was the first overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft out of Southern Nevada.

Harper is now in his 7th MLB season and has a batting average of .220, has 15 doubles, no triples, 25 home runs, has driven in 62 runs, 8 stolen bases (caught stealing 2 times), has been walked 84 times, and has struck out 117 times through 103 games.

Harper has played in 871 games throughout his 7-year career, has a batting average of .277, 164 doubles, 18 triples, 175 homers, 483 runs batted in, 70 steals (caught 30 times), has walked 539 times, and struck out 782. Harper his a six-time All-Star, won the MVP in 2015, and Rookie of the Year in 2012.

The Indians are looking to improve their outfield with Bradley Zimmer, and Lonnie Chisenhall going down with an injury. Harper will be a huge upgrade, even if he is a rental for the rest of the 2018 season.
