Jose’s Big Day Helps Indians Snap Skid in 13-6 Win over Tigers; Three Takeaways from the Victory

2. Kluber Outduels Mrs.Upton

It was a day to forget for Tigers starter Justin Verlander, as the Indians beat on him for nine runs on 11 hits in four innings, building a big lead before the Tigers clawed their way back into the game against Indians starter Corey Kluber.

The Indians ace struck out the side in the first to set the tone, and on the day allowed six runs, striking out eight over 6.1 innings of work.

He walked two and gave up eight hits, but was pitching with a huge lead and was able to keep the team ahead, and then turned it over to the pen of Andrew Miller and Cody Allen to secure the win.

Kluber is now 1-1 on the season and will start on Thursday afternoon in Minnesota against the Twins.
