Holy Name Junior Dwayne Cohill Named Great Lakes Conference Player of the Year

Junior guard Dwayne Cohill was named 2016-17 Great Lakes Conference Player of the Year at Sunday’s annual conference meeting.

Cohill is averaging 23 points per game and helped lead Holy Name to a share of the Great Lakes Conference Championship, as the Green Wave shared the title with Elyria Catholic.

The junior has been offered scholarships to play college basketball at Butler, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Northwestern, West Virginia, Xavier, and Penn State… just to name a few.

Holy Name (17-3, 11-1) was voted 13th in the latest AP Poll for Division II in Ohio, and opens up tournament play as the top seed in the North Ridgeville District, hosting Cloverleaf on Feb. 28.

Seniors Sean Hickey and Malique Burton were named First Team All-GLC. Senior Nick Opincar and junior Brandon Styers were named Second Team All-GLC. Senior Ralph Vance was named Honorable Mention All-GLC. Holy Name Coach Jeff Huber was Co-Coach of the Year in the GLC.

When more details emerge, we’ll be sure to let you know who else was named to the All-GLC teams. Congratulations to all of Holy Name’s boys basketball team and coaching staff.
