Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman, CB Joe Haden, Might Play This Week

After a truly spectacular preseason performance from Robert Griffin III, who torched the Falcons defense, it’s hard to believe that this young quarterback still doesn’t have all of his offensive weapons on the football field.

This week wide receiver Corey Coleman just might make his first NFL appearance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Joining him could be All-Pro cornerback Joe Haden. These two athletes have a legitimate shot at playing football this week.

Head coach Hue Jackson told the media:

I think he’s [Coleman] very close. My thought was to get him and (WR) Josh (Gordon) both out there in pregame so they understand the process of how we do it. Hopefully, next week, they’ll have an opportunity to both be out there and play in a game,

Jackson said that this is a huge week for Haden and Coleman. Getting the defense and the offense together in the preseason will help gain confidence on both sides of the football.

Especially in Robert Griffin III who looks to perform even better than he did last Thursday, when he went 6-8 for 96 yards and two touchdowns; a 154.2 passer rating.

I think it’s a huge week for both. You said it best, we have to make sure these guys have some playing time under their belt before we get ready to go into the season because we haven’t had an opportunity to see them versus live competition. This will be a big week for both of them.

Receiver Josh Gordon has an opportunity to play but it looks like a long shot. Haden and Coleman will continue to practice and try to make it out on the field when the Browns take on the Buccaneers on Friday night.
