Buckeyes Break Records in 77-10 Blowout over Bowling Green

Aside from an early interception, J.T. Barrett and the Buckeyes were near perfect in their season opener against Bowling Green.

The Falcons took a 7-0 lead after Brandon Harris returned an interception 63 yards for a touchdown.

It was all Buckeyes the rest of the way.

Barrett threw three passing touchdowns in the first quarter, bouncing back quickly from the early miscue.

The junior quarterback went on to break the school record for touchdowns in a game, finishing with seven on the day, six of which came through the air.

H-back Curtis Samuel scored three touchdowns, collecting 261 total yards on 22 touches.

Redshirt freshman running back Mike Weber looked poised beyond his years, rushing for 136 yards on 19 carries.

True freshman Demario McCall, a graduate of North Ridgeville High School, scored two touchdowns late in the game in his Buckeye debut.

The day ended with Ohio State breaking the school record for total offense, gaining 776 yards in the blowout.

Malik Hooker came away with two interceptions in the win, and Rodjay Burns returned a pick 75 yards for the final score of the day.

It was not all good news, however, as head coach Urban Meyer announced defensive tackle Tracy Sprinkle will undergo season-ending surgery for a patellar tendon tear.

Ohio State entered play ranked sixth in the nation, but after a pair of losses to top-five teams, the Buckeyes could slide up a couple spots before their Week 2 meeting with Tulsa.
