Blue Jackets-Bruins Preview: Season Opener Edition

The 2016-17 NHL season is underway and after an amazing opening night, in which Auston Matthews became the first player to score four goals in his NHL Debut, it is now time for the Columbus Blue Jackets to begin their season.

Here are some notes for Thursday night’s game.

Blue Jackets vs. Boston Bruins

7 pm ET on Fox Sports Ohio

Players to watch:

Columbus: Seth Jones (D), Brandon Saad (W), Boone Jenner (C), Sergei Bobrovsky (G)

Boston: Patrice Bergeron (C), Brad Marchand (W),  David Pastrnak (W), Tuukka Rask (G)

Columbus went 34-40-8 in 2015-16, finishing eighth in the Metropolitan Division and 15th in the Eastern Conference.

Boston went 42-31-9 in 2015-16, finishing fourth in the Atlantic Division and ninth in the Eastern Conference, just shy of a playoff-berth.

Head-to-Head: The Blue Jackets and Bruins met three times in 2015-16.

Columbus went 1-0-2, as two of the three matches went to overtime and Boston won both overtime games.

Columbus won by a final of 6-4 in their lone victory and the other two games were decided by one goal, so if the trend continues, fans could be in store for another close game on Thursday night.
