100 Years of Football in the Berea City School District

SOUTHWESTERN CONFERENCE (part 2)

The most recent change of league affiliation occurred in 2005. Midpark, Berea, and Brecksville left the PC to compete in the Southwestern Conference. The timing was right for the SWC: they were looking for new members after three schools departed in the spring of that year. Remaining to welcome the PC transfers were longtime SWC members Amherst, Avon Lake, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, and Westlake.

Now “fast forward” to 2013 and the merger of Berea and Midpark High Schools. For the first time in 50 years, there would now be only one team representing the school district: Berea-Midpark High. The nickname “Titans” was chosen by a vote of the Berea and Midpark students prior to the merger. During the 50 years of head-to-head football competition, Midpark won 26 games, Berea 24.

In 2015, Brecksville left the SWC and four schools were added: Avon, Lakewood, Midview (Grafton), and North Ridgeville. These moves brought about the current 10-team alignment. Since rejoining the league in 2005, the only Southwestern Conference football championship won by a BCSD team has been the Berea-Midpark Titans of 2014 coached by Ray Hradek.
