VIDEO: Trevor Bauer throws 116.9 mph ball during workout

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Trevor Bauer has gotten plenty of attention in recent years for his unconventional training methods, but it’s safe to say he’s been getting fewer questions in recent years as his offseason work translates into more consistent outings on the mound.

Yesterday, Driveline Baseball (the facility where Bauer trains in Washington state during the offseason) posted a video of him throwing a 3-ounce ball 116.9 mph.

Yes, a regular ball is 5 ounces and not 3, but according to MLB.com, that speed is still a record for that kind of training.

While it is impressive, we’ll all just have to wait and see how Bauer’s training translates to the regular season.
