The Columbus Blue Jackets pulled out a victory Tuesday night against The Philadelphia Flyers with a last-minute goal with only 1:04 remaining.
Last night, it came back to bite them. A shot into the cage with just 1:19 left in the 3rd period led to the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 victory in front of a super-charged crowd.
The cannon sounded! Everything was going as planned for Columbus scoring quickly in the 2nd. Opening the scoring up one goal in the 2nd and another in the 3rd. They took 44 shots on goal putting The Canes goal tender, Eddie Lack, through the paces.
Carolina made 24 shots on goal scoring all three in their goals in the 3rd. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky adds another 21 saves in the books and prepares for their next game on Saturday versus The Nashville Predators.
This will kick off a four game road-trip with stops in Washington, New York and Carolina before returning home to face the Rangers on April 4th.
In an unrelated matter, The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned Michael Chaput to Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced Thursday.
Stay tuned to The Lake Erie Monsters to see what develops with Chaput. He was acquired from The Springfield Falcons and has been withColumbus on and off since 2012. For the mean time he will be back in the AHL.
The Monsters are facing off tonight against The Icehogs (Blackhawks affiliate) as they square-off in Game 2 of the Central Division Showdown. The Monsters defeated Rockford last night 4-2. Look for an action-packed game tonight at 7:00 pm.
