Tribe Takes 2 of 3 from Tigers, Losing First Game Against Detroit of the Season 12-2

24,000 plus fans attended Wednesday afternoon’s series finale between the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers at Progressive Field, as the visitors won 12-2, earning their first victory of the season, after losing the first 11.

The Tigers also snapped Cleveland’s 13-game home win-streak.

Josh Tomlin retired the first nine batters he faced and Cleveland jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but it was all downhill from there.

Cameron Maybin and Nick Castellanos both homered for Detroit, knocking Tomlin out the game in the fifth inning.

Zach McAllister gave up four runs in the seventh inning.

It was not a pretty day for the Tribe, but they were bound to lose on to Detroit eventually.

Tomlin received just his second loss of the season, falling to 9-2 after his worst outing of the 2016 campaign. Michael Fulmer improved to 9-2 on the season with a 2.11 ERA, as the Tigers gained one game in the standings on Cleveland.

The Tribe falls to 51-33 on the season, 6.5 games in front of Detroit for first place in the American League Central Divsion.

Up to this point in the 2016 season, the Indians are 11-1 against the Tigers, which is just shy of the best head-to-head record against Detroit in franchise history, as the Tribe went 12-0 against their rival in 1996.

The Indians kick off a four-game series with the New York Yankees on Thursday evening, as Trevor Bauer (7-2, 3.02) takes on Ivan Nova (5-5, 5.06).
