Report: Indians Ink OF/3B Melvin Upton Jr. To Minor League Deal

The winter meetings are over but the Indians are by no means done making moves, as this morning Ken Rosenthal reports the team has come to terms on a minor league deal with outfielder/third basemen Melvin Upton Jr.

Upton hasn’t played since 2016 when he was with the Padres and Jays, and that season he hit 20 homers and batted a combined .238.

The 12-year vet is best known for his eight seasons playing in Tampa for the Rays. His best season saw him hit .246 with 28 homers and 78 RBI in 2012.
