Glenville Tarblooders Handed Two Losses After OHSAA Rules Team Used Ineligible Player

The Glenville Tarblooders football program was punished by the OHSAA on Tuesday for using an ineligible football player.

The program has been fined $2000, and also two of the teams wins from earlier in the year were taken away from them. The Tarblooders are also now on two-year probation.

Cleveland.com reports that OHSAA spokesperson Tim Stried said the player that was ineligible was permitted to play for the team back on on August 29th, but a few days later the OHSAA received information that the family did not relocate to the address listed by the school, a violation.

The OHSAA reached out to Glenville, but didn’t get any response until October 7th.

The two wins taken away from Glenville were again John F. Kennedy and East Tech. Glenville was 5-3 on the season, 5-0 in Senate League play until the ruling. Now they are 3-5, and 3-2 in Senate League action.

Here is an updated standings following the OHSAA’s ruling earlier today.

John Hay 5-2 (5-0)
East Tech 4-3 (4-1)
Collinwood 4-4 (3-2)
Rhodes 4-4 (3-2)
Cleveland John F. Kennedy 4-4 (3-2)
Glenville 3-5 (3-2)
Whitney Young 2-6 (2-3)
John Marshall 1-6 (1-4)
John Adams 1-7 (1-4)
Lincoln West 3-5 (0-5)

Glenville will play 5-2 John Hay on Friday.
