Cleveland– Jose Ramirez entered the history books in dramatic fashion during Thursday’s game. After two rain delays the Guardians were in the 10th inning against the Twins. Ramirez got on base with an RBI hit that scored the tying run. Doing what Jose does best he stole second base recording his seventh snag of the season. This swiped bag put Ramirez in the record books as the first primary third baseman in MLB history to reach 250 career homers and 250 stolen bases. He wasn’t done yet, for added flair Jose scored the winning run on Angel Martinez’s single.

Showing humility Ramirez said, “At that moment, the last thing you’re thinking is any milestones or personal records. To me it was where we had the chance to get running, obviously get in a position where I can score with a base hit given the situation of the game.”
The 32-year-old is the fourth player to achieve the feat while spending the entirety of their career with only one franchise, along with Milwaukee’s Robin Yount, Houston’s Craig Biggio and New York’s Derek Jeter.
“It’s a testament to hard work for a really long time and being really, really good for a long time,” Skipper Stephen Vogt said. “He came through big with the hit and then he gets the stolen base in the milestone and scores a winning run as well. He should have. He just continues to get accolade after accolade, and I really enjoy watching it.”
