A Look Back At The Previous 13 WWE Backlashes

WWE

2004 Chris Benoit defeats the Shawn Michaels and HHH in a Triple Threat match to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.

Benoit came up big in front of his hometown crowd to retain the championship by beating two WWE legends for the second straight Pay Per View.  The match wasn’t as great as their WrestleMania XX encounter, but still very good.

While the main event was solid, this card is mostly remembered for the showcase of Randy Orton beating Mick Foley in a No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.  This a clear sign for the huge things WWE had planned for Orton in the very near future.

2005 World Champion Batista defeats HHH to retain his title

For the second straight pay per view HHH put Batista over for the title in another solid match.  Batista looked great and the fans loved him at this time.  HHH was set for a small vacation at this point.  He would lose one more time to The Animal, before taking a short sabbatical.

Hulk Hogan came back for “One More Match” when he teamed with Shawn Michaels to defeat the evil Davari and Muhammad Hassan.  This would lead to HBK eventually double crossing Hogan to set up their forgettable match at SummerSlam 2005.  Also on the card, in a Tag Team Turmoil match The Hurricane and Rosey won by last eliminating La Résistance (Robért Conway and Sylvain Grenier) for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
