SOCCER: Greater BinghamtonFC at Cleveland SC Preview

Cleveland SC welcomes Greater Binghamton FC (GBFC) to Don Shula Stadium for the first time in club history Saturday, May 26 in the second home match of the NPSL season. Cleveland SC look to repeat their winning performance from last week’s inaugural home match to double their point total.

GBFC travel to Cleveland hoping to secure their first point of the season and end a pointless streak that dates back to 2016. GBFC suffered a 7-1 loss in a midweek match to Syracuse FC and currently sit at the bottom of the table.

On the opposite end of the table, Cleveland SC are level on points with three opponents at the top of the Midwest East Conference table after a 2-0 victory against the Rochester Lancers. Backed by a strong defense including Declan McGivern, who scored the first goal in club history and was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s NPSL Team of the Week, Cleveland SC will approach Saturday’s match with expectations for another clean sheet.

Cleveland SC’s two 2018 matches with GBFC will be the conference’s longest road trip for the away team in each fixture. With momentum and home-field advantage, Cleveland SC has a golden opportunity to begin its inaugural season with a dream start of two consecutive wins. The club will not have to wait long for the reverse fixture either, as Cleveland SC is scheduled to travel to Visions Field in Binghamton, NY  Friday, June 8.

Tickets for Saturday’s match with a 3:30p.m. scheduled kickoff time are available at ClevelandSC.com.
