This weekend was just another showcase of the absolute best in training, molding and all around guidance offered to the very best in North East Ohio baseball by those who have done it themselves in the past, including former Olympians Ivanon Coffie and James Kavourias.
Premier Athletics based out of Valley City, Ohio, has two former Olympians on the current coaching/training staff.

Both Ivanon Coffie and James Kavourias have come home to teach the top High School Baseball talent in North East, Ohio.

Ivanon Coffie teaches the game of Baseball the way he learned it over his 15 year professional career. He offers his Major League background so that you too can play like a Pro.

Coffie signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 1995, turning pro and eventually working his way up to the majors where he made his major league debut in 2000 as a third basemen.

Coffie was traded to the Cubs the next year, before ending up in St. Louis as a Cardinal in 2003. It was also in 2003 that he played in the World Cup of Baseball.

In 2004 Ivanon signed as a free agent with the Astros and played on the Dutch National Team in the Olympic Games.

He also spent time playing in the Netherlands European League’s 2005 World Cup and Eupropean Championship with the Dutch National Team, winning the MVP Award.

In 2008, Coffie signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
He brings a fantastic national feeling and approach to his students. He was born on May 16, 1977 in Curaco, Netherlands Antilles and is clearly a steal for his young players to learn from.

James S. Kavourias who was born October 4, 1979 in Brooklyn, Ohio, United States also spent time in the Majors.

Kavourias played in the Florida Marlins minor league system from 2000 to 2004. He participated in the 2004 Olympics, as a member of Greece’s baseball team.

Jim graduated Brooklyn High School in 1997, where he led the state with a .625 batting average and was first team All-conference in the Mac-8. He went on to attend West Virginia University 1997-1998. Before leaving for Pensacola Junior College 1998-1999.

He went on to be the thirty second round draft pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

He declined the offer from the Diamondbacks and went on to attend the University of Tampa 1999-2000 where he broke Tino Martinez’s RBI record of 82 with 90 RBIs, along with 23 HRs and a .365 batting average.

From there he was a fifth round pick of the Florida Marlins in the 2000 Amateur Draft. He met with success as he was a Midwest League All-Star in 2001, with 23 HRs and 90 RBIs.

Coffie and Kavourias add the veteran leadership needed to breed a legacy of winners and excellence.
