C Timofey Mozgov – Mozgov will most likely be the starting center. Mozgov was not used much in the fourth quarter last season, though, so it will be interesting to see how Blatt handles that if Thompson is not re-signed.
PF/C Anderson Varejao – Varejao has a well-documented injury history, but has returned fresh and healthy to start the 2015-2016 season. Varejao can play some power forward and will be one of the backup centers to Mozgov. If Thompson is not a member of the Cavaliers, Varejao could be used for a significant amount of time as Love’s backup, and may play the fourth quarter minutes when Mozgov is on the bench.
C Sasha Kaun – When Kaun signed with the Cavaliers, it was not a major ground-breaking headline because most assumed Varejao would play backup center and Thompson would play backup power forward. The domino effect of Thompson’s holdout means Kaun may play much more than expected.
