Players To Love And Hate In Week 16 Of Fantasy Football

Hates:

QB Tom Brady NE $8,800
The last two games versus good passing defenses he has not hit 20 points. He might not hit 20 points this week either against the Jets. With Revis back, the Jets have been playing much better. They just need to focus on not giving up the big play. Brady gains Edelman back but how healthy he is will be a key question. I’m not sold on the Patriots having a great week.

QB Eli Manning NYG $7,400
I put him here last week but said he was capable of having some big plays because of Beckham and that’s exactly what happened in the fourth quarter. Now with Beckham gone against a top ten passing defense, Manning is securely in my hate list.

QB Brock Osweiler DEN $6,800

Osweiler had his best fantasy performance against Pittsburgh but everybody else does too. He still has yet to show up in the second half of games and the Bengals defense has been stellar lately. Both teams have young QBs finally getting a chance to start and top five defenses so don’t expect anything but a defensive standout with one team outlasting the other.

RB Todd Gurley STL $8,300

The Seahawks are the third best rushing defense in the NFL. It’s a road game for the Rams which does not make it any easier. Don’t see any way that Gurley can go into Seattle and perform.

RB Chris Ivory NYJ $6,900
Ivory has just one touchdown over his last six games. The Patriots have a top ten rush defense likely due to the fact that teams have to throw a lot more than usual to beat them. Powell has been the touchdown back recently for the Jets and despite his limited touches I would trust him over Ivory.

RB Eddie Lacy GB $6,300
In his last six games, he has three 100+ yard games and three games with less than 25 yards rushing. There is zero consistency. Zero. You can’t take that chance when playing a top five rush defense and a team that will clinch a bye with a win over you this week.

WR Julio Jones ATL $8,600
The matchup with Carolina is never fun. We saw how much Norman got in Odell’s head last week when he picked up three personal foul calls. Jones went for seven and 88 yards two weeks ago when they played but Carolina got the last laugh when they shutout the Falcons. Atlanta has struggled a ton after their hot start and Jones is a recipient of it.

WR AJ Green CIN $8,400
Green had just one catch for 37 yards last week. The difference from going to AJ McCarron from Andy Dalton is tremendous. I expect the Denver defense to rebound too after getting pummeled by the Steelers last week.

WR Calvin Johnson DET $7,800
I’m going bold putting all these big names in the hate list but it’s important to give some advice on big players that may actually go in your lineup. It worked with Jeffery last week but Brown burned me. Johnson goes in here because of his health. He looked like he should not be playing last week. He now has just five catches in his last three weeks. He should really just take the rest of the season off to avoid any further damage because the Lions aren’t going anywhere.

TE Delanie Walker TEN $6,600
Walker had only two catches last week granted both of them were for touchdowns. He has better chemistry with Mariota than with Mettenberger who prefers Green-Beckham. The Texans defense has played better in recent weeks and is second in passing yards. I’d try to avoid Walker if you could.

TE Jason Witten DAL $5,500
Five catches for 40 yards and no touchdowns. That’s what the Cowboys QBs have made Witten become. Moore is probably not the one to change that although with his limited arm strength, dump downs to Witten might become a little more common. Buffalo still has talented guys on their defense and I’m starting them this week so I think they have a good shot at keeping Witten shut down.

DEF Steelers $4,800
I’m not buying into them like most analysts are having them in their top five defenses for the week. I already said that I think Clausen and Aiken could be a sleeper combo against Pittsburgh. I’m still picking Pittsburgh to win by double digits because of the offense but this could be a higher scoring and closer game than most expect. Their second worst pass defense should never make a team a top five play.
