Lorain County Nightmares vs Ohio Raiders Game Preview

LORAIN COUNTY NIGHTMARES (1-0) @ OHIO RAIDERS (1-1)
STADIUM: MEDINA HS (MEDINA, OH)
SERIES: THIRD MEETING (OHIO 2-0)
LAST GAME: 7/15/17 (OHIO 14-0)
KICKOFF: 7:00 P.M.

Saturday night’s game represents the kickoff to the 2018 PAFL part of the schedule for both teams and is the first of two meetings this year with the second coming at Oberlin College on July 21st to close the league’s regular slate. Last season the Raiders were victorious in both meetings, 30-6 in Akron (6/10/17) and 14-0 (7/15/17) and lead the all-time series 2-0.

In their last game back on April 21st the Raiders established a new record for points in a contest for the second-year franchise as they hung 47 on the Westmoreland Wolves. Wideout Casey Gladney was the big target for a pair of quarterbacks on the night as he hauled in a team record four touchdown catches and broke his own year-old record for yards receiving in a single game as well.

Defensively the Raiders allowed the Wolves 32 points and will look to improve against a Lorain County offense that mustered just 6 points in two meetings against them last season.
Lorain County is off to a 1-0 start on the season thanks to a 28-10 victory on April 28th against the Cleveland Cobras.

On the offensive side of the ball the Nightmares were led through the air by QB Brandon DiMarco who tossed a trio of second half touchdowns and finished 21/36 for 247 yards and the three scores of 14/41/32 yards. Two of DiMarco’s markers found their way into the hands of the dangerous CJ Powell Jr who capped off his birthday in style with 173 yards on 11 catches.

Defensive line play and the ability to control the line of scrimmage allowed defender Chase Laudato to finish off a big performance where he blocked a field goal and recorded a safety alongside an interception.
