In advance of a Wednesday road game vs. their Central Division rivals, the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Lake Erie Monsters announced that 19 year-old left wing Paul Bittner was assigned to the team by the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday from the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks. A 6’5”, 205 lb. left-handed native of Crookston, MN, Bittner was selected by the Blue Jackets in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft with the 38th overall pick.

In 25 WHL appearances for Portland this season, Bittner posted 10 goals, 21 points and 21 penalty minutes with a -4 rating. In 199 career appearances for Portland spanning parts of four seasons from 2012 to 2016, Bittner supplied 78 goals, 164 points, 112 penalty minutes and a +68 rating. Bittner helped the Winterhawks claim the 2012-13 WHL Championship and participated in the 2014-15 CHL Top Prospects Game.

Next up for the Monsters, it’s a Wednesday road clash vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins, before back-to-back home games Thursday and Friday at the Q.
