BEREA, OH – With the spectacle that is the NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, the countdown to training camp is officially on for Cleveland Browns fans. But you may want to pump the breaks a bit. Before August arrives there are several offseason programs for teams to conduct and plenty of important personnel-related dates to remember.
In that vein, here is everything notable remaining during the Browns offseason, ahead of training camp.
May 4-7: Browns three-day, rookie minicamp featuring any drafted, signed or tryout rookies. The program can run from Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday.
May 21-23: Owners meetings in Atlanta, Georgia
May 22-24: Browns OTA session one, these workouts are voluntary and contact is prohibited.
May 29-31: Browns OTA session two, these workouts are voluntary and contact is prohibited.
June 4-7: Browns OTA session three, these workouts are voluntary and contact is prohibited.
June 1: Deadline for a player’s previous club to submit a “June 1 Tender” to any of its unsigned restricted free agents who received a qualifying offer for a right of first refusal only in order for such player to be subject to the CBA’s “June 15 Tender” provision.
June 2: Any player contracts released earlier in the offseason and designated as a “June 1st cut” are cleared.
June 12-14: Browns Mandatory Minicamp. As the name suggests, this attendance at this event is mandatory for all players. Contact is still prohibited at this point.
July 16: Clubs that exercised their franchise tag on a player must have a multiyear contract or extension negotiated by 4 pm EST or said player will have to play 2018 on the tag.
