Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

NFL:

CAR vs. TEN
CAR -4.5

The Panthers defense is going to be too much for Tennessee to handle. Mariota looked really good last week leading the Titans to victory but that was also against the Saints defense. The Panthers are much, much better. Cam Newton looks totally in control this year. Expect the Panthers to remain among the unbeaten for another week.

CHI vs. STL
CHI +7.5

I don’t expect the Bears to win but I expect a close game. The Bears last five games have been decided by three points or less. Jay Cutler has not looked bad this year honestly. With Alshon Jeffery coming back, both of them have picked their game up. The Rams will be a tough defense and Gurley could be scary but the Bears proved on Monday they can fight through it.

JAC vs. BAL
JAC +6

This is an interesting game that can go either way. Baltimore is towards the top of the league in passing yards allowed. Blake Bortles is quietly emerging as a top ten QB. He has weapons in Robinson and Hurns that can make life a nightmare for the Ravens. The Ravens also lost Steve Smith for the year and don’t have the weapons to replace him. Overall I think the Ravens are the better team but if it’s that much of a tossup than taking Jacksonville with six points to spare isn’t a bad idea.

NE vs. NYG
NE -8.5

Once again the Patriots just look unstoppable. The Giants defense is not going to get a pass rush on Tom Brady and that will prove costly. Brady can pick apart a banged up defense.

ARI vs. SEA
SEA -3

Both of these teams have had two weeks to prepare for the Sunday night showdown. Arizona is probably the better team but I almost never go against Seattle at home. They always play well there and they know that their playoff picture window is dwindling with a loss to the Cardinals.

NCAAF Last Week: 5-3
