Canton McKinley Breaks Losing Streak to Perry; Tops Panthers 28-17

By JC Hibbs

PERRY, OHIO – In the battle of the 7-1’s the Canton Mckinley Bulldogs were not about to lose 6 in a row to the Massillon Perry Panthers as the Panthers took care of business in a 28-17 win.

The 1st quarter was all about the run game for the Perry Panthers using plays that took you back to the famous football movie “Remember the Titans.”

Coach Boone using the same 6 plays for his offense.

The Perry panthers have a similar looking offense were they run the same play just different ways.

This style worked in the 1st quarter pushing the ball down the field to take a 7-0 lead but all the Panthers could muster after that was a field goal and a pass believe it or not going 75 yards for a touchdown with 40 seconds left in the game.

The McKinley defense loaded the box with 8-9 guys in the 2nd quarter and beyond and shut down the Perry offense.

The Panthers QB Hayden Vinas ended the game 2-5 for 90 yards and a touchdown.

Running backs Joshua Lemon and Dion Cundiff ended with respectful games. Lemon ended with 95 yards and Cundiff ended with 113 yards and a touchdown and a fumble lost.

The Bulldog offense was led by running back Lameir Garret going for 142 and 2 touchdowns and QB Elijah Wesley was 3-for-8 for 80 yards and a run of 71 yards and a touchdown.

The story of the night was Perry’s offense against the McKinley defense and McKinley’s defense figured them out and shut them down.
